Last year, FAMCOHSEF celebrated the 6th World Day of the Poor in Tondo on November 13, 2022, within the San Pablo Apostol Parish (SPAP) grounds. The celebration replicated the simple celebration of 2020 and 2021 with continued COVID restrictions. Around 600 families from Barangays 91 to 106, classified as the poorest of the poor, came and joined the short program, listened to the dental health talk, and went home with a pail of rice, sugar, coffee, and milk, and donated food and hygiene kits. Thirteen (13) families living near and under the bridge of Tondo were visited and given pails of food and hygiene kits. Volunteers from the Tahilan Study Center, families and friends of the Trustees, and SPAP volunteers helped during the affair.
FAMCOHSEF aims to continue the support of Pope Francis’ call to celebrate the 33rd Sunday of every year as the World Day of the Poor through outreach in Tondo. This 7th celebration will showcase the spirit of volunteerism, service, and dedication to the community. The organization aims to communicate these goals by reaching 700 families from the district. The families can sustain themselves through a pail packed with goods and toiletries. The event will be on November 19, 2023, in the same venue, San Pablo Apostol Parish.
